When I first joined SNH, I became part of a team that was itself fairly new. But that didn't stop us from participating in a really comprehensive induction course - followed up by a three day residential course where we visited one of our natural heritage sites.

When you're in the business support side of things, it makes such a difference to go out and see what your work is really all about. With the work I do and the internal customers I support, I've discovered just how spectacular the West Coast of Scotland really is. More people need to appreciate what's on their doorstep - and that's just one of the things I get from working here.

People here appreciate my support - and they let me know. I get a great sense of motivation out of working with our area staff, the people on the ground conserving and promoting the natural heritage.
